Bethany’s love of storytelling has been a lifelong passion, but convinced it would serve her best to follow a “conventional” career path, she tucked that passion away and went off to college.

Fast forward four years and about six major changes later, she realized the stories simply were not going to stay tucked away. Months away from graduating with a degree in elementary education, she finally realized writing was the only career that would make her happy.

So one day in the middle of a summer education course, she got up in the middle of class and walked to the registrar’s office and withdrew from the university on the spot. Since then, she has devoted herself to writing full time and is following her dreams.

You never know when outside influences will change your life. One such influence for Melody was when her 22-year old daughter decided to drop out of college and begin a full-time writing career. When she chose to self-publish rather than go the traditional publishing path, Melody pledged to learn everything she could about self-publishing and spend her extra time assisting her daughter with all the non-writing activities involved in indie publishing. After a year of working her full-time job as a school technology trainer and working for her daughter for free in the evenings and on weekends, she was hired away from that job by her daughter to be her full-time assistant. And that is where all of this began. After almost 4 years of reading blogs, listening to podcasts, reading books, perusing online forums, attending conferences, and teaching herself how to handle the non-writing tasks involved in a self-publishing business, she and Bethany decided it was time to help other self-published authors and their assistants learn the ins and outs of this business.
